15:24 <****> hmm. if i run compiz-manager it replaces the current compiz instance, but never brings up a config dialog.
15:25 <****> adj, Is it supposed to?
15:25 <****> Are you sure you don't want 'ccsm' to configure compiz?
15:26 <****> adamk: well. i would prefer that, but F8 seems to have shipped with a busted compiz-fusion releases
15:27 <****> so, i'm going to give them a week or two to get back up to speed before i start customizing things
15:28 <****> adj, Good luck :-)
15:28 <****> hello
15:28 <****> adamk: heh. thats what i figured
15:29 <****> im desperately trying to use this on debian, beryl worked great.. when im loading it i cannot get the compiz manager on
15:29 <****> although it loads just fine
15:29 <****> i cannot adjust anything
15:31 <****> anyone?
15:32 <****> melodosgr, I don't use Debian, but maybe if you give a little more information, we can figure out what's going on...
15:32 <****> melodosgr, Is it that compiz isn't starting for you?
15:32 <****> it starts
15:32 <****> but i get some errors
15:32 <****> though it works kinda fine..
15:32 <****> got an emerald error
15:33 <****> but the compiz icon doesnt show up
15:33 <****> so i cannot configure it
15:33 <****> it just loads up with defaults
15:33 <****> melodosgr, compiz, by itself, does not provide an icon... Just the window manager. You can configure compiz with 'ccsm' or 'gconf-editor' depending on how you start compiz, and what you have installed.
15:34 <****> well
15:34 <****> when i had beryl on my deb
15:35 <****> ive just intalled that
15:35 <****> and it came up with an icon it used to be on the right top corner
15:35 <****> so i just clicked that and i could configure it
15:35 <****> is not the case for compiz-fusion then?
15:35 <****> There was a beryl-manager icon, yes... And there's at least one utility (fusion-icon) which can provide an icon for compiz, but it does not come with all distributions.
15:35 <****> !icon | melodosgr
15:35 <****> melodosgr: Compiz Fusion Icon is a tray icon that provides quick access to CCSM, Emerald Theme Manager, and basic functions (eg. switching/reloading WMs or WDs). For debian sid users, it is included in shame's repo. To install from GIT, do the following: git clone git://anongit.opencompositing.org/users/crdlb/fusion-icon && cd fusion-icon && sudo make install
15:36 <****> oh i seee
15:36 <****> i use debian etch though
15:36 <****> isnt that icon available?
15:36 <****>?
15:38 <****> Well, if you're using Shame's repo, you apt-get it. If not, you'll have to compile it following those directions.
15:41 <****> mm a distro just released says it uses nvidia 100.14.23 .. i thought 100.14.19 was most recent.. hmm
15:41 <****> here's what i did mate http://shame.tuxfamily.org/repo/?cat=11
15:41 <****> .23 is a beta driver
15:42 <****> oh ok
15:42 <****> argggh nvidia updated its driver page... their smartscan doesnt support linux
15:43 <****> http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=en-us
15:44 <****> adamk: still here?
15:44 <****> niiice http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_100.14.23.html
15:44 <****> their driver mentions "compiz"
15:46 <****> melodosgr, yes, I'm just at work, so I can't always watch this channel :-)
15:46 <****> melodosgr, SO it appears you are using shame's repo... Oh, but it's only in the sid repo... Not etch.
15:47 <****> melodosgr, Then you'll have to install it via git, assuming it will work on Etch (if Shame didn't package it for Etch, it just may not run there).
15:48 <****> adamk: ok adam thankx for all
15:49 <****> adamk: can i still manage it though without that icon but by using those commands you previously mention?
15:55 <****> hello ppl
15:56 <****> Focus & Raise Behaviour?
15:57 <****> ie, I set it but after 1, 2 secs, it auto-set's itself to off
15:57 <****> not even auto-raise
15:57 <****> s0undt3ch, disable DE integration in preferences
15:58 <****> prg_: what exactly does that set off?
16:00 <****> that shares some settings with your DE or something
16:31 <****> morning adamk
16:31 <****> morning all
16:31 <****> morning crdlb
16:31 <****> Good morning.
16:32 <****> hello coz_
16:32 <****> aguitel, hey guy
16:43 <****> how do you get gnome panel to span both monitors in a twinview setup w/ compiz?
16:46 <****> adj, You'll want to use the "NoTwinViewXineramaInfo" option in xorg.conf. This will disable the xinerama extension that twinview provides to the server.
16:47 <****> Hey guys, i just reset my graphics configuration (was having issues with flash); however no i can't start compiz fusion.. and my glxinfo is empty how do i reset it?
16:47 <****> adj, This will cause gnome-panel to see both monitors as just one large screen, and it will span both.
16:47 <****> Soup-can, glxinfo is empty? As in, nothing at all shows up when you run that command?
16:48 <****> adamk: ahh. cool. thanks
16:48 <****> baiscally everything displays 0
16:48 <****> adj, Doing that, of course, will cause maximized windows to span both monitors.
16:48 <****> adamk: heh. thats the behavior i want
16:48 <****> Soup-can, How about pastebin'ing the output of glxinfo so we can see it.

16:49 <****> !pastebin | Soup-can
16:49 <****> Soup-can: pastebin is a service to post large texts without flooding the channel. To post a file such as your xorg.conf, open that file in a text editor (kate, gedit, etc.)... Go to http://pastebin.com in a web browser, and paste into the text field at that website. Hit the submit button. It'll give you a URL back. Paste that URL here.
16:50 <****> Soup-can, yeah you have to go to pastebin to paste anything longer than three lines
16:50 <****> Soup-can, Instead of glxinfo this time, though, pastebin your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file.
