00:00 <****> I have the emerald and the whole compiz thing installed just want it back to the stripped down compiz that is installed by default ubuntu 7.10 and I do have visual effects still set to none and still having problems
00:01 <****> slliness: What vid card and distro?
00:01 <****> soreau: That it then? Nothing more I can try? :(
00:01 <****> soreau, fx 5500 and ubuntu 7.10
00:03 <****> soreau, having problems with windows, having reset X and sorts of things
00:03 <****> slliness: nVidia? How did you install your driver?
00:03 <****> moveav: Nothing more than what FusioBot has to say :p
00:04 <****> soreau, nvidia yes and the distro has a restricted driver package and self installer
00:05 <****> slliness: I'm no nVidia expert but what is the output of 'glxinfo|grep direct' ?
00:05 <****> soreau: OKies. Thank you very much for your help - you're a credit to the community :)
00:06 <****> moveav: Honestly I use ubuntu and it is very friendly with gnome and compiz
00:06 <****> soreau, I had it all up and running fine but either an update or I messed with something'
00:06 <****> Fedora 8 should be, also
00:06 <****> should <-- keyword
00:06 <****> soreau, 11231 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2245.660 FPS
00:06 <****> my direct rendering is working fine
00:07 <****> slliness: Ok so what do you mean by 'stripped down compiz' ?
00:07 <****> How do I enable compiz in 7.04 ubuntu?
00:07 <****> !feisty|otero
00:07 <****> otero: Ubuntu Feisty Compiz Fusion installation: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompositeManager/CompizFusion . For Xgl, see !feistyxgl
00:08 <****> Oh well
00:08 <****> thnaks
00:08 <****> soreau, ubuntu has a stripped down compiz or compiz fusion, I can't remember installed by default doesn't it?
00:09 <****> soreau, I should say ubuntu 7.10 does, I think
00:09 <****>Visual Effects tab << Extra
00:10 <****> soreau, is there a place I can post a screen shot for you
00:10 <****> speedyshare.com
00:11 <****> k

00:14 <****> k
00:16 <****> soreau, http://pastebin.ca/834120
00:18 <****> slliness: All seems good there, are you using ccsm? How are you starting compiz?
00:21 <****> soreau, not sure none of the settings will take effect, seemed to be working fine then one day set on none automatically and none of my emerald themes will hold tried compiz --replace and emerald --replace and do have ccsm installed but under system - pref - advanced desktop settings
00:22 <****>Bcakend <-- What have you there?
00:23 <****> soreau, maybe one of my themes I have enabled under appearance preferences?
00:23 <****> no
00:24 <****> soreau, gconf configuration backend
00:24 <****> Do you have FlatFile as an option?
00:24 <****> yes
00:24 <****> Switch to flatfile
00:25 <****> ok
00:25 <****> done
00:25 <****> reconfigure ccsm and settings should hold
00:26 <****> how would you like me to do it and is there a master reset or something to set ccsm back to default case it not just some setting like water that is pwned my card
00:29 <****> hello
00:29 <****> is there anybody?
00:29 <****> i have a annoying problem
00:29 <****> i use kde and i have those busy icons
00:29 <****> when i start some application
00:30 <****> but if an icon of an application is a png with hmmm invisable space
00:30 <****> soreau, I tried the extra under apperance preferences and still gives me could not be enabled
00:30 <****> it grabs some colors from the background and it looks really bad
00:30 <****> maybe some one can help me to fix this?
00:32 <****> slliness: You might need to get with coz_ about nvidia; Hope you get it running..
00:32 <****> it has some shades
00:33 <****> soreau, do you know how I can remove it? back to default and no ccsm installed?
00:40 <****> which G## versions are suported from intel? G35?
00:43 <****> !intel|?
00:43 <****> ?: Compiz requires at least an i830 (82830), and will perform well on any i9xx chip. In older intel chips it is sometimes required to increase the amount of shared videoram to enable direct rendering; in such a case, your /var/log/Xorg.0.log will indicate that problem.
01:00 <****> yo
01:01 <****> anyone home?
01:02 <****> Invalidsyntax: hello
