00:00 <****> muh2000: is it /usr/share/bin?
00:00 <****> is this normal?
00:00 <****> thunder_storm: You might reverse the order of the spam and AV filtering if it turns out you get more viral mail than spam. In any case, you want to reject the mail at the MTA and forbid delivery, *NOT* accept it then generate a nondelivery notification, which is itself spam.
00:00 <****> bts3685: no :(
00:01 <****> muh2000: dpkg -L imagemagick | grep bin
00:01 <****> hold on, i'll find it
00:01 <****> whereis imagemagik?
00:01 <****> karsten: aaahhh ok :) thnx
00:02 <****> muh2000: ... will show you where the binaries went. It doesn't actually have an "imagemagick" binary. You'll have: convert, identify, mogrify, composite, etc.
00:02 <****> yeah
00:02 <****> i was just gonna say "uhh... it's not one binary"
00:02 <****> thunder_storm: http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/articles/focus_spam_postfix/
00:02 <****> karsten: yeah that came in my mind when i executed the the dpkg -L imagemagick | grep bin :)
00:03 <****> thunder_storm: What I'd look for is something which takes the results of spamassassin and bayesian classifiers (eg: bogofilter) and add the remote server IP to a temporarially (1h - 1day) banned hostlist.
00:03 <****> thunder_storm: IP-based rejections are fast and cheap.
00:03 <****>
00:03 <****> thunder_storm: Local mailserver dumps about 40k delivery attempts a day.
00:03 <****> bts3685: yes they are all in /usr/bin :)
00:03 <****> unless you're using something strange like SuSE or so forth
00:05 <****> karsten: i thank you so much - i have understand it
00:05 <****> thunder_storm: http://osdir.com/ml/user-groups.linux.ilug.general/2004-03/msg00121.html
00:06 <****> karsten: though do you really want to put, for instance, gmail's mailservers into a blacklist?
00:06 <****> karsten: your informations are great - i will learn the way, how to do it
00:06 <****> Does anyone know of a build of Mozilla Lightning calendar that is compatible with Icedove 1.5.0.13+1.5.0.14b.dfsg1-0etch1 on amd64?
00:07 <****> thunder_storm: google "postfix spam filter" or "postfix spam filtering" for more. I think the postfix manual will have some very good tips. Try also the #postfix channel here.
00:08 <****> karsten: thank you for your very good support
00:08 <****> thunder_storm: http://postfix.wiki.xs4all.nl/index.php?title=Main_Page
00:08 <****> thunder_storm: ... is the postfix wiki w/ more spam refs.
00:08 <****> Please help me, how do I undo "rm"????
00:08 <****> I just "rm"ed a file :(
00:09 <****> I believe my filesystem is ext3
00:09 <****> i've heard rm is forever
00:09 <****> you're confusing that with diamonds.
00:09 <****> ShadowPhoenix: first things first,
00:09 <****> STOP USING THE COMPUTER
00:10 <****> boot from knoppix
00:10 <****> stop any downloads
00:10 <****> the longer you use the computer, the more you risk writing over the node
00:10 <****> nah, just hard-reset and don't let it boot
00:10 <****> is it hard to save it?
00:10 <****> ShadowPhoenix: look up unrm and lazarus
00:11 <****> (I just deleted gcc for some reason)
00:11 <****> and become familiar with GNU ddrescue
00:11 <****> ShadowPhoenix: is the file worth more than $50?
00:11 <****> ShadowPhoenix: Why not just reinstall gcc?
00:11 <****> okay, really, anyone know why the xfonts-artwiz pkg went away? Or is it under a different name now? It was in sarge, no longer there for some reason.
00:11 <****> ShadowPhoenix: yeah, that is a file everyone has
00:11 <****> last time I tried in in gentoo it went all screwy :(
00:11 <****> that's because gentoo uses gcc to compile.
00:12 <****> doesn't debian?
00:12 <****> only if you're compiling
00:12 <****> ShadowPhoenix: yes, but not every time you install a package
00:12 <****> when you install, it doesn't compile
00:12 <****> OH
00:12 <****> ShadowPhoenix: here's what you do:
00:12 <****> apt-get install gcc?
00:12 <****> aptitude remove --purge gcc
00:12 <****> THEN
00:12 <****> aptitude install gcc
00:12 <****> sweet!
00:13 <****> we want to start fresh.
00:13 <****> bts3685: That's aptitude purge, not aptitude remove --purge
00:13 * ShadowPhoenix cross fingers
00:13 <****> blahdeblah: really? i've always done it that way. hell, i didn't know there was a shorter way to do it. thanks for the tip!
00:13 <****> bts3685: I'm pretty sure aptitude doesn't support that syntax - only apt-get does.
00:14 <****> Then again, i could be wrong.
00:14 <****> I thought i got a syntax error last time i tried that, but it looks like it works. I'll shut up now.
00:14 <****> yeah, i just tried it out. works fine. but now that i know a shorter form.. :)
00:14 <****> is there something similar to drupal in the repos?
00:15 <****> DawnLight: http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=drupal&searchon=names&suite=all&section=all
00:15 <****> (does anyone else find it weird that drupal4.7 is in sid, and drupal5 is in lenny?)
00:16 <****> I got a 80gig and I parition to 40gig, It is using the LVM. Now I want to add the other 40gig in. how do i do that? any9one know the correct way to add that 40 gig in so I have 80 total? thanks..
00:16 <****> bts3685: drupal5 is in both
00:16 <****> bts3685: i want in stable! but nice anyway, wow. nice. heh
00:17 <****> DawnLight: drupal4.5 is in sarge repos. i'd venture that to be considered stable.
00:17 <****> i wonder how them upgrades work with those things
00:17 <****> bts3685: Anyone using drupal from debian is asking for trouble - it doesn't get updated anywhere near often enough.
00:18 <****> stew: yeah, but you'd think 4.7 would see lenny, not 5
00:18 <****> blahdeblah: i agree. DawnLight: if i were you, i'd install from source and remember to check for updates often. more work, but more secure.
00:18 <****> hm. totem seems buggy. (supprise supprise). wonder if its worth reporting a bug
00:19 <****> main thing bugging me about drupal are the upgrades. move this here, back this up, delete this, download this, decompress that, upload this...
00:19 <****> DawnLight: Tell me about it - what a pain!
00:19 <****> Still, it's a very flexible CMS that has a lot of uses.
00:19 <****> reinstalling everything from scratch is such a mixed blessing. You never really remember everyhting you did last time.
00:19 <****> i like it. and i don't even know php!
00:20 <****> bts3685: the drupal-4.7 is provided by the drupal source package. it was removed from testing when etch was testing becuase it was deemed not fit for release. this block on it entering testing has remained in place since then. the drupal5 package which is considered completely different by debian does not have such a block and so it has migrated to testing
00:21 <****> stew: ahhh. thanks for the clarification!
00:21 <****> Sweet! It WORKED! :D
00:21 <****> Thank you guys!
00:21 <****> Now my sister is alive again!!!
00:21 <****> ShadowPhoenix: glad we could help!
00:21 <****> *system
00:21 <****> ....
00:21 <****> if i wasn't so lazy, i'd bash.org that.
00:21 <****> bash.org?
00:21 <****> http://bash.org/
00:22 <****> it will suck all free time from you.
00:22 <****> hmm
