00:02 <****> So there is this user1 and user2, both are in group1. But for user2 group1 is like a secondary group, it has his default group the adduser gave him automatically. When user2 creates a folder, the ownership is user2 as user, and as group it is not group1, it is the group adduser gave him. How can I change it ? I need user2 to create things which have ownership to group1.
00:03 <****> setgid
00:03 <****> look at chown's manpage for the sticky bit
00:03 <****> either that or look at ACL's (which i had to do for one of my boxes)
00:03 <****> I know how to change by chown, but I can't be chowing each time user2 create something on the system
00:04 <****> thats not what i said....
00:04 <****> if you setgid a directory then every file your user creates on that directory
00:04 <****> it will have the group you have
00:04 <****> Lord_Khelben: hows 2008 going?
00:04 <****> mwalling: same as 2007 i guess :)
00:05 <****> :P
00:06 <****> xjkx: look at setfacl(1) and getfacl(1)
00:09 * XGizzmo thinks mwalling just cussed out xjkx
00:09 * mwalling thinks XGizzmo needs to roll over and die :P
00:09 <****> wish granted
00:10 <****> :P
00:10 <****> i'll wake you up next year
00:12 <****> you should let him sleep more than 6 hours
00:23 <****> stupid host buyout migration broke my wordpress
00:24 <****> sicne it's not migrated over yet I can't post anything
00:27 <****> bah
00:27 <****> did you have something really important to blog about?
00:28 <****> dadexter_laptop: no didn't want to use pastebin.ca for a script for someone on #ubuntu
00:28 * dadexter_laptop throws up a bit
00:29 <****> pastebin.slackadelic.com
00:29 <****> ubuntu users can't spell slackadelic
00:32 <****> but I tend to use my website as a "notepad" as well
00:32 <****> I'd use a wiki for that... easier than wordpress posts
00:32 <****> but that's just me
00:32 <****> no the notepad is not wordpress though it's a wiki that is designed to be a notepad
00:33 <****> forgot the name of it though ....
00:35 <****> but I can't even upload anything until my site gets migrated to a new host
00:35 <****> hopefully they don't jack the prices up on me
00:35 <****> you pay for a word press?
00:36 <****> how much?
00:36 <****> mwalling: no I pay for web hosting :)
00:36 <****> oh
00:36 <****> still
00:36 <****> 9.99
00:37 <****> /mo or /yr?
00:37 <****> per month
00:37 <****> for 19.99 you could have your own VPS :P
00:37 <****> yes I know I did have one witht he host I have now
00:37 * mwalling plugs linode.com, where slackboy lives :)
00:38 <****> but that will probably be gone when the new host finally fully takes over
00:38 <****> happy new year everyone in my time zone
00:39 <****> still got 6.5 hours to go here
00:39 <****> 20.5 minutes here ;)
00:40 <****> I live in the future \o/
00:40 <****> rg3: give us a quick sitrep .. how's 2008? worth bothering with? ;)
00:41 <****> the year is still too young to tell
00:41 <****> gotta love gentoo
00:41 <****> heh, sitrep. There's a blast from the past... military term as I know it.
00:41 <****> I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow wanted to watch the Winter Classic :(
00:41 <****> but I got the impression it's going to be as bastard as its brother, year 2007
00:41 <****> gentoo wiki already has a full length article about the eeePC
00:42 <****> gentoo's documentation is fairly decent
00:42 <****> how much do these eeepc's cost?
00:42 <****> nachox: was the recent AR time change in the last glibc tz update?
00:42 <****> been hearing a lot about them lately
00:42 <****> people are running ubuntu on eeePC lol
00:42 <****> mine was $400
00:42 <****> danc3: not a lot but you don't get a whole lot either
00:42 <****> k
00:42 <****> mwalling: order online? if so, where? any recommendations?
00:42 <****> newegg
00:42 <****> kk
00:43 <****> boy newegg must be making a lot of money off eeePC if they sell them for that much
00:43 <****> rob0_: not sure, i dont have a slack to test,i hope it is, it's a pain having to zic every server
00:43 <****> ugh
00:44 <****> rob0_: i'm surprised you even knew we implemented summer time saving
00:45 <****> I was talking to someone else from AR
00:46 <****> i doubt it was
00:46 <****> yeah, seems like it was awhile ago
00:46 <****> the change was officially passed 2 days ago and tz was updated on xmas
